LYRICS

BLÅ “Stay here,” you say“ Just for a while At least until the spring arrives” You say you see it In my eyes The connection is lacking strength Between my heart and mind I’m filled with melancholy That strange, yet comforting kind Like walking along the bottom Of the mystery of life “Hey dear”, I say “Don’t wait up for me tonight It’s not to be unkind I just can’t handle this goodbye” I’m filled with melancholy That strange, yet comforting kind Like walking along the bottom Of the mystery of life The moments we have are fleeting I try to hold on to you Stuck with the same old feeling Blue “Stay here,” you say “Just for a while At least until the spring arrives” I’m filled with melancholy That strange, yet comforting kind Like walking along the bottom Of the mystery of life The moments we have are fleeting I try to hold on to you Stuck with the same old feeling Blue

Please Bring The Sun (LA) LA, new love of mine You shook my world when you blew into town With your brown, messy hair and indigo eyes Desire so strong, it doesn’t subside You’re leaving too soon, won’t you come stay around? Please bring the sun when you touch back down LA, sweet love of mine It might have been the wine, but I think you’re divine Wasn’t used to that kind of heat, in these New England streets Oh, you got me feeling like a fever in July We were soaring too high, let’s meet up on the ground Please bring the sun when you touch back down Everything turned gray The day you left The rain came pouring LA, dear love of mine I didn’t know what I was missing until you came by There’s a country between your city and me But maybe we could figure something out Call me when you get this, and tell me how it sounds And please bring the sun when you touch back down

Strange Philosophy I hear democracy is falling At least in this part of the world But sometimes I wonder would it be for the better To not let every voice be heard? We crave spectacular illusions A one-man-show put on by a fool in a tie I like the thunder but I admire the rain As it's washing away each alibi Oh, this place of rock and water With only space to support her Endless trains of thought to explore I know they say that nothing’s what it seems So maybe I don’t need to believe In this strange philosophy It’s a weird world of greed, Of stocks and promises and anti-wrinkle creams But who will care about my number of pounds When I’m deep down in the ground? Did the hippies in the sixties Ever question their existence? Contemplating what is real? Or maybe they were able just to be Yeah maybe they were able just to be free In their strange philosophy I want a garden filled with strangers An unfamiliar rose to water each night To run my fingers around their petals And find the traces through their minds I’m not big on religion I believe in new beginnings And the power of singing I’ll try to keep a softness to my heart And keep my eyesight sharp But that’s just me And my strange philosophy

Traces In Your Mind An old café conversation In the town where you used to live A reflection in the window Of a candle burning still A sting of regret For the flat you didn’t sign Linger on the surface As traces in your mind In his summer house with orange light Stained glass above the door An image of a burning sight The two of you, intertwined Linger on the surface As traces in your mind And you wish you could’ve stayed there And you know you can’t go back All that’s left is what you captured On a grainy roll from Kodak Sometimes motives won’t develop And the stars refuse to align But let the moments of the divine Form the traces in your mind

Sing Me One More Song I took a plane to far away, moved across the sea Before I left, you said “my dear, go get your dream degree” I kissed your wrinkled cheek And though your grip was weak, I didn’t know that heartfelt hug would be our final one Everything is changing Nothing lasts for long My dearest angel, show yourself And sing me one more song Your biggest disappointment was giving up your car You’d drive around exploring, sometimes going way too far I think that’s pretty rare at the age of ninety-three You must have had an urge, like me, to feel completely free Everything is changing Nothing lasts for long My dearest angel, show yourself And sing me one more song I’ll think of you when Geraniums are in bloom And I’ll sit on my porch hearing your little jokes And you’ll laugh through the wind Like a promise of a new spring And hopefully you’ll sing Everything is changing Nothing lasts for long My dearest angel, here I am To sing you one more song

The Space Between Our Souls We’re hiding in a dark café Not a single plan or goal Seeking shelter from the rain In the space between our souls Every word is spoken softly Neither’s trying to control The conversation’s flowing effortlessly In the space between our souls Lovers without fear of the unknown After all we live and die alone You give your heart each moment It’s nobody else’s to own The winds of love are dancing freely In the space between our souls Lovers without fear of the unknown After all we live and die alone We give our hearts each moment They’re only ours to own The winds of love are dancing freely In the space between our souls In the space

Ebb & Flow I’m sitting in a corner of the universe At a table With a random group of strangers Faces I don’t know Faces I don’t know Seeking shelter in a girl with a tattooed arm At the bar Another tragic story All I can do is sip and nod along Sip and nod along It seems to be the way it goes I always try to get in close It seems to me that all I know Is how to fall when trying to ride the ebb and flow Turn the corner onto Granville Avenue I’m next to you You’re right beside me But you feel so far away Is there a window that we’re simply looking through? We’re split in two There’s always something That makes you feel so far away It makes you feel so far away It seems to be the way it goes I always try to get in close It seems to me that all I know Is how to fall when trying to ride the ebb and flow

Your Eyes (song for dad) Late in the evenings From when I was a child Sometimes even on school nights You’d pick a record from your collection Make two cups of tea And we’d sit in silence and listen Could be Dylan or Joni Or somebody you discovered at nineteen At a house show in Glasgow When you should have been studying And you didn’t And in the photographs from when you were my age There are many ways we’re not the same I got my mother’s laugh, my mother’s smile But dad I’ll always be proud I’ve got your eyes Your life has not been deprived Of burdens of duty and shame Your tower of morals will keep standing tall In every terrain Sometimes its narrow shadow haunts me I swim to shallow ends to compromise But one can’t fool one’s own existence Dad, I’ll always be proud I’ve got your eyes And you taught me patience And the value of solitude But not for too long Or I’ll be tangled up in blue And I don’t say it as often as I think it There’s a tenderness, a way your mind Can see the world and all that’s in it Dad, I’ll always be proud I’ve got your eyes Oh, dad, I’ll always be proud

When Buds Are Breaking A child’s running Climbing high As she tries to reach the sky She’s still unaware, unprepared For the aching pain When buds are breaking As a teen She will burst in green If the frost only stays away Her leaves will unfold, she’ll be exposed Her fear racing When buds are breaking Clinging to who She thought she knew It’s tightening the shell of herself Because certainly Identity is not for eternity If she’s undefended And just surrenders She’ll land in the trust of the time The child in her mind will take off and fly The world’s awaking When buds are breaking

SERENDIPITY EP

Joanna Joanna Throw your purple raincoat on And I’ll lock up the door Joanna I’ve never seen you this early in the morning Joanna You never miss a puddle While I always look for cover Joanna Everything is different now somehow Would you lose a friend To gain a lover? ‘cause we like to pretend It’s not one or the other Joanna With a smile, you can’t decide By the time we’re first in line Joanna I’ll just order You can have a bite of mine Would you lose a friend To gain a lover? ‘cause we like to pretend It’s not one or the other You take your eyes off of me I’m not sure what it means Each of us waiting For the other to speak

If Found We lit a candle in the dark You danced around the kitchen table You took me to your favorite bar We drank the wine with the fancy label We used to fight about the car You always were the better driver You never had a single doubt We always thought we were the wiser If found Please return In one piece If found Please return I’ll leave the keys We put up signs along the street They had our name and number Cause you and me we still believe Our better part is out there somewhere If found Please return In one piece If found Please return I’ll leave the keys

Just Another Day Late flights Break lights Foggy mornings Tongue tied Play nice Silent warnings chasing you You want it your way Who’ll be the one to blame? Windows Open Laughter disappears Sleeping Hoping The wind will clear the air What if you stay? It’s just another day You’ll be on your way Fragile and frayed You’ll be on your way Come what may Low tide Warm nights Walking slowly Good wine Strange signs Who said it’d all be fair? What if you stay? It’s just another day
